Careers

Small team, slow hiring.

We do not have open roles posted. That is not a formality — there genuinely are none right now. We still read every message, and we have hired from unsolicited ones before.

Four things that are actually true here.

Written plainly so you can rule us out quickly if it is not what you want.

The team is very small

Small enough that one person's work is visible to everyone. That is good if you want ownership and bad if you want to specialize narrowly.

We are pre-launch

Not a stable company with a hiring plan. Compensation reflects stage. If you need certainty right now, this is the wrong time.

Writing matters more than meetings

Decisions get written down and argued in text. If you think best out loud in a room, you will find this frustrating.

Infrastructure, not features

The work is reliability, correctness, and boring guarantees. Satisfying if that is your taste. Tedious if it is not.

If we were hiring

The shapes we would move on.

No posting exists for these. But if your background lands near one of them and the problem interests you, a message now is better than waiting for a listing that may never appear.

Backend / distributed systems
Multi-tenant isolation, audit integrity, deployment fan-out

Security engineering
Threat modeling, SSO and SCIM, certification readiness

Product engineering

What to expect if you write

No take-home exercise, no algorithm screen. We would rather read something you actually built and talk about the decisions in it.

If there is no role, we will say so plainly rather than keep you in a pipeline. We keep messages on file and come back to them — that is not a polite ending, it is how the last two conversations started.

You write

What you built, what was hard, why untactit. Three paragraphs beats a cover letter.

We reply within a week

Including when the answer is no. Silence is not our style.

A real conversation

An hour on something you have done and something we are stuck on.

Work together briefly

A paid short engagement if both sides want to keep going. Not free labor.

Practical details

We are remote and asynchronous, which means written communication carries most of the load. There is no office to come to and no core hours to keep, but there is an expectation that what you decide gets written down where others can find it.

Write to hello@untactit.com with whatever represents your work best — a repository, a written postmortem, something you shipped. A resume is fine but it is rarely the interesting part.
